I flew in to San Diego yesterday after a mess if a morning trying to clean everything and make sure that I had packed everything that I needed. I had been staying with my parents to save money for the trip and feel bad for the amount of “stuff” I left laying about my mom and dads place.

I’ll be hiking with my friend Brandon on this journey. Both of us are staying with my brother Mike in his groovy downtown apartment enjoying views of the bay while we prep to start the trail tomorrow.

I’ve cut at least 12 lbs from my pack weigh over the last week. I felt like was watching Sofies Choice as I was picking between keeping extra first aid supplies or an extra set of underwear. Alas I have thrown aside and deemed not important everything in my life aside from roughly 19 lbs of supplies, 8 lbs of food, and two days worth of water. Here we go!

I'm preparing to hike the Pacific Crest Trail starting in April 2016. I currently live in Salt Lake City, Utah and work as a marketing consultant. Lately I've been watching a lot of "Cheers" and think Coach might be the funniest character of all time.
