Mountain House Granola with Milk and Blueberries jumped on my radar this morning. As of today, I have only fifteen days left until I start hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. My last group of gear to get dialed in is food. I originally was pretty sure that I would be doing most of my resupply in trail towns and grocery stores, but after finding such great deals on Amazon and Costco, I’ve decided to send more packages to myself (or more accurately let my parents send me packages). It seems there are some areas that are pretty hard to resupply without sending packages. Once I started researching what I would do for those areas of the PCT, it seemed more practical to send packages along the whole trail.
I’ve purchased several Mountain House packages which include their Granola with Milk and Blueberries meal. One thing that I noticed straight away is that you do not need to use hot water. This makes cooking breakfast in the morning all the easier. Preparing the granola is as easy as adding 1/2 cup of cold water and stirring the mix together. I was able to simply mash the bag a bit and it mixed the ingredients perfectly. I suggest letting the mixture sit for at least two minutes to let the water sufficiently soak into the oats. After testing the granola I was surprised with how good it tasted. The milk and blueberries combine for a delicious treat that I’m sure I won’t get sick of on the trail (is that possible?) So if you are wondering if the Mountain House Granola with Milk and Blueberries is something you should have in your pack, I’d highly recommend it.
